Winter Service
Tips
We all know that, even
in warmer climates like ours, we have many chilly mornings on the way this winter. Here
are a few tips from Jay's Kirkland Autocare on how to "winterize" your vehicle.
 |
Have your oil changed.
Regular maintenance such as this is the best way to keep your car running smoothly. |
 |
A qualified technician can determine with
one quick inspection whether or not your belts and hoses are near their
breaking point. Having them replaced now could save you from being stranded on the
roadside waiting for a tow. |
 |
An exhaust system leak
could allow deadly carbon monoxide to seep into your vehicle. Since we usually drive with
our windows up during the winter, have your exhaust system inspected for any deadly leaks.
|
 |
Even if your battery is labeled maintenance-free,
it needs to be checked by a service technician. The terminals should be cleaned and the
cables should be attached tightly. Also, have your technician check the charging system to
ensure that your battery won't let you down. |
 |
Having the engine tuned up
is also a good idea. A little extra cold weather can make starting difficult, thus putting
a strain on the entire engine. |
 |
Last, but certainly not least, consider
your personal comfort. Check your heater, thermostat and blower fan
before you need them on a frosty day. |
We hope that these tips will help ensure that your vehicle is
running smoothly no matter what Mother Nature throws our way.
